As Services Cost Estimator, you will:Utilize project estimating work processes to produce cost estimates. Incorporate project complexity factors into project estimates and assemble/maintain cost data base. Derive material quantities from design information and provide installed costs for same. Perform uncertainty analysis and sensitivities on cost estimates reflecting project risks. Benchmark against historical performance, industry norms and established key performance indicators. Assess project scope and main components to develop consistent Unit Operational cost estimates. Work with the Project Manager, provide probabilistic analysis for contingency setting. Develop data base of location factors for capital cost estimates. Translate the identified project scope and engineering/PM deliverables into the estimate of capital, expense, demolition, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up of process plants. Write the Basis of Estimate documents/reports to describe how estimates are completed. Review and challenge the engineering and construction contractor’s cost estimates throughout the project cycle. Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors Analyze blueprints and other documentations to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Confer with engineers, sales, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work. Review material and labor requirements, to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction Keep up-to-date technically and keep records Maintain information files and process paperwork To succeed, you will need:
A relevant degree preferred or Cost Estimator Certification or equivalent experience Minimum 5-8 years experience as a Cost Estimator for process plants/capital projects. Experience with various estimating software Proficiency with PC applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, database applications Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work well under pressure and keep a positive attitude Good organizational skills and accurate work methods. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work overtime occasionally on an as needed basis English: Read, Write, Speak
