Public Engagement Assistant (Professional Exchanges).
The U.S. Embassy in Helsinki is seeking eligible and qualified applicant for the full time (40 hours /week) position of Public Engagement Assistant (Professional Exchanges).
The Professional Exchanges Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Established Opinion Leaders (EOL) Specialist, and has no supervisory responsibilities. Coordinates the Embassy's exchange programs for EOL audiences, including individuals and organizations such as think tanks, professional associations, civil society organizations, and academic institutions. Designs, plans, and implements a broad range of activities to maintain contact with alumni of all EOL activities and initiatives. Coordinates Embassy English language outreach programs for teacher associations, including English language teachers and teacher trainers, schools, and others.
EDUCATION: University degree in international relations, American Studies, communications, political science, or economics is required.
LANGUAGE: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English and Finnish is required. This may be tested.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a multilingual, multicultural or multinational, academic or governmental work environment, with project management, communications, or education duties as a significant part of the job.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong analytic skills, excellent customer relations and interpersonal cross-cultural communication skills. Strong management skills including the ability to develop and oversee project budgets and to organize, run, and present professional and exchange projects such as workshops, seminars, digital and in-person conferences, panel discussions, and lectures. Excellent familiarity with electronic discovery tools, in particular the Internet, and standard information retrieval practices and procedures. Thorough, detailed knowledge of various computer software programs, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
